PERSONAL STATEMENT
As a kid, I hated maths with a passion. I went through hours of repetitive practice problems, only to mindlessly regurgitate them on exam day. I didn’t really understand the fundamental concepts behind what I was doing, and I didn’t care to. Luckily, I met a teacher in high school who finally made maths interesting and helped me drastically change my approach. I realized maths were not just about memorizing methods, but rather about finding logical patterns and understanding profound concepts. As a tutor, I want to give students that same experience. Learning should be a fun and exciting experience rather than a chore, or a mean to get more points on an exam. I make my sessions as collaborative and visually engaging as possible. I use diagrams and concrete examples to help explain complex ideas, as I believe that understanding the fundamentals is the key to master the hardest problems. I have taught students from secondary school to university, and one constant is that people learn better when they are enjoying themselves. Tutoring is more than just helping a student to get better grades; it is about making them feel confident of their progress and excited to continue to improve. I love seeing that moment when a difficult concept finally “clicks” and the student sees the result of their hard work. My goal is to make learning an enjoyable journey, one step at a time.
