PERSONAL STATEMENT
I truly believe a tutor’s role extends far beyond academics; A tutor is a mentor during some of the most defining moments of a young person’s life. GCSEs and A-levels are a time when students are discovering their passions, values, and aspirations, all while working hard to achieve good grades. Therefore, their learning journey should be smooth and enjoyable. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive environment where students feel supported, inspired, and able to truly understand and enjoy their lessons.
During my time with ‘Tutor Trust’, I spent two years working with students both in person (at homes and schools all around Manchester) and online. I taught small groups and also provided one-on-one sessions, earning an 'Outstanding' grade from my quality manager when I was supervised. With additional training in teaching students with learning barriers—whether physical or mental health challenges—I developed a personalised approach that catered to each student’s needs and strengths.
As a deeply creative individual (evidenced by my “First in the World” award in GCSE Art and Design in 2019), I bring innovation to my lessons, using vivid illustrations and diagrams to make even complex ideas clear and memorable. I also create short stories, memorable mnemonics, and clever tips and tricks to simplify challenging topics. This creativity, paired with my academic background in psychology and cognitive science, allows me to apply evidence-based teaching methods such as active recall and spaced repetition. These techniques ensure that students not only learn, but retain knowledge effectively over time.
Most importantly, I tailor every lesson to my students' interests and hobbies, weaving humor and curiosity into the learning process. By fostering respect for each student’s background and culture, I strive to build a sense of community where students feel valued and empowered. My goal is to help your child feel confident, engaged, and ready to excel — Not just for one exam, but for their broader journey of developing transferable skills that will support their future learning experiences.
