PERSONAL STATEMENT

I first discovered my passion for tutoring when my cousin asked for help with a math problem from her homework. As I guided her through the steps, I realized how rewarding it was to make complex concepts easier to understand. This experience sparked my desire to help others, whether it’s solving a single question or preparing for long-term exams. Tutoring allows me to make a meaningful impact by empowering others with the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Having personally experienced an incredible education across many different cities in Asia, I know firsthand the importance of good teachers and the support they provide. Throughout my years of schooling, I’ve discovered various ways to enjoy learning, which I now intend to pass on through tutoring. I am highly motivated not only to help students succeed academically but also to teach them methods to enjoy learning their subjects, fostering a deeper and more lasting engagement with their education. Furthermore, my own experience with being tutored has given me valuable insights into what truly makes a difference in the learning process. I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to work on a subject that you dislike or find difficult, and how crucial it is to have someone who understands those challenges. Over time, I discovered effective strategies to succeed and get the most out of each session, which has become a foundation for how I approach tutoring. I believe its important to build strong relationships with students, creating an environment where they feel comfortable and motivated. When students look forward to their sessions, it not only helps them engage with the material but also enhances their overall learning experience. By tailoring each tutoring experience uniquely to the needs and strengths of the student, I aim to provide a supportive and enjoyable learning environment that helps them thrive both academically and personally.

Although I have only recently finished school I believe this may hugely benefit my tutoring in some aspects as the majority of my secondary school knowledge is still very much fresh. I also greatly remember what it was like to have exams and how I prepared for them. It also means I am probably much closer in age to some of the tutees and might allow me to not only aid the tutee in their education but also to form a friendship which can only serve to benefit the tutees progress and success in their work.

I believe I am a supportive teacher who is able to make learning enjoyable for students. I would approach each student with a focus on their unique learning style, ensuring that the material is presented in a way that resonates with them. Through my teaching, I aim to build both academic confidence and personal growth. I encourage reflection and help students develop essential exam techniques and revision skills, finding the approach that works best for each student and each subject. I make sure to provide a wide range of resources and tools to support their learning and foster success. Outside of academics, my hobbies include arts like drama and music, sports such as tennis and golf, as well as other interests like cooking, baking, and photography. I also have academic interests in subjects like algebra, government policies, and modern history. My goal is to create an environment where students feel supported, secure, and excited to learn in an atmosphere that is supportive, secure and enjoyable.
