PERSONAL STATEMENT
I believe that a good teacher can make or break a student’s passion for a subject. My maths teacher in secondary school was unlike any other teacher I have had before, as I could feel the passion she had for the subject. This led me to take a large interest in mathematics, and set me on the path of pursuing a degree in it in university. This is why I wanted to become a tutor, or to work in education in general. I wish to inspire students who may be struggling in school, perhaps they aren’t enjoying the subject and are feeling frustrated. I believe my love for academics can convince students that learning is a wonderful thing, instead of something that is boring or tiring. Being a student myself, I have a good understanding of exam structures and what markers look for in student’s answers, so I am able to come up with straightforward and easy-to-follow strategies that would allow students to answer exam questions with ease. And since I had struggled with school during the early days of my secondary school life, I am able to relate to students' frustrations and worries about their studies, as I had been in a similar situation before, and help tackle such problems using my experience. I am able to help students in a myriad of ways to ensure that they can perform their best in exams.
