TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Go Student

  • Tutoring nine students, ranging from primary to A-Level students in English, History, and the Social Sciences, sourcing and creating my own resources

  • Building trust-based relationships with parents and students, learning to vary my communication dependent on who I am talking to ensure comfort and efficiency, receiving positive feedback from students and parents

  • Seen seven students so far report a grade increase or positive praise from school based on the improvement in their work and exams

    Zero Gravity - Mentor

  • Mentoring two students voluntarily for an hour each a week, aiding them in their university applications and building a network for them to have support since they do not have it at home

  • Received positive feedback from both mentees, have developed trust-based relationships with them and seen a grade and confidence increase overall

SKILLS & INTERESTS

My interests include Reading, Formula One and Tennis. I like a good romance novel, or a mystery that really makes you think – one of my favourite reads is A Court of Thornes and Roses by Sarah J Maas. For Formula One, I am definitely a Ferrari and Mercedes supporter at the moment – although I used to dislike Mercedes because they won too much. I only recently took up tennis with a local club, and although I still miss the ball sometimes, I truly enjoy playing and spending time with all the people I have met!

I am native speaking in English and Urdu.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Having been educated in London since nursery, I understand what it is like to be a student with the vast pressures of the British education system. The exam stress, the particular curriculums and high standards are something I am deeply familiar with, alongside the struggles of being young and managing your life beyond school. Hence why I take an empathetic and adaptive approach towards my students to ensure they have an encouraging and stimulating environment where they can advocate for themselves and their struggles whilst staying motivated to keep learning. Having tutored students ranging from 8 years old to 18 years in English, History, Psychology and more, I understand that each child is different and develops at a different pace. My first student was a year 5 student who really struggled with maths anxiety and overall confidence in the classroom post-pandemic. After two lessons where we collectively found out her interests, her strengths, and the potential of her ability, she blossomed into a confident girl who faced her maths problems head-on without doubting her intelligence and a renewed trust in her capabilities. Over the course of three weeks, she would openly admit if she found something hard, ask questions and then translate that hard work in school, where she proudly showed me the praise that she received from her teachers.

Therefore, I believe effective tutoring and tangible progress in grades and school can come from a compassionate and understanding approach that is adapted to each child. Taking the time to build rapport, to learn of their difficulties and then effectively communicate in a way they understand is vital. Practically, staying organised with study plans and utilising a range of resources that are most compliant with their preferred way of learning is extremely important. I want each of my students to feel understood and take a positive approach to their learning and potential, and make the most out of the opportunities that they have.
