PERSONAL STATEMENT
Personally, I have had a hugely positive experience of both primary and secondary education and I would like to help provide a similar experience to students. I considered tutoring because I feel I have the potential to inspire and encourage children of all abilities to reach their full potential. I believe that tutoring is effective in increasing confidence as it goes beyond the syllabus and provides an environment where the subject can be tailored to the child’s personality thus encouraging a greater interest in the material. My work experience allowed me to understand pedagogy from a teacher's perspective. I had worked as a learning and development intern at QUEST Alliance, an Indian non-profit organisation that designs scalable solutions to enable educators to address critical gaps for quality education and skills training through technology. In my role as learning and development intern, I had researched and designed curricula in contribution to team efforts and organisational improvements. I am open-minded and focused on new developments in my field. I have proven to be effective and motivational, with proficiency in writing and collaborative work. I enjoy brainstorming and coordinating efforts to achieve a common goal. I was fortunate enough to have undergone an exceptional education. My main subjects of interest have been sociology, political science, anthropology and history. I have a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science, with a minor in Sociology and Anthropology. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Political Sociology from The London School of Economics and Political Science. I believe that tutoring is not only a way to help a student navigate academic grievances but also a way to help them advance their many interests. The lessons that I have learnt from my teachers have stuck with me for the rest of my life. I would like to believe that I can make a positive impact on students by encouraging them to pursue their interests and achieve their goals. Since I am still a student myself, I believe that I will be able to understand the needs of students better and cater to them as required. I am always enthusiastic in listening to students as I think each one of them is unique. That said, I attempt to personalise my approach to tutoring based on the needs of each student. I understand the importance of visual learning and encourage my students to incorporate creative forms of learning into their everyday routines. I try to communicate with students to cater to their needs and provide all the support that I can give them. My aim is to provide students with a nurturing environment in order for them to reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals.
