PERSONAL STATEMENT
Science is such a broad subject that always fascinated me from a young age. It was as if there was no end to what I could learn, experience and discover. Biology and chemistry always had me inquisitive and this soon reflected in the paths I chose to take within my own education. I studied biomedical sciences as an undergraduate student where I learned that the two areas of science coexisted. Studying biomedical sciences encapsulated the areas I enjoyed most of both biology and chemistry growing up, allowing me to not only expand my interests beyond what I thought I knew about the way the human body worked, but also the behind the scenes of the functions that happen within that allow us to inevitably live. Being a tutor ensured that I was constantly refreshed on the ever-changing national curriculum and education system. Teaching the students ensured I was kept up to date with the new content and grading criteria, making sure my knowledge was always up to speed. In my first job as a tutor at 17, it really put things into perspectives of what responsibility was. Some of these students were in a position that I was in myself, not very long ago, and it made me understand how impressionable they were and the true importance of the power a teacher held in the life of a young person. I graduated with a First Class in my undergraduate and am currently completing my PGCE at UCL.
