SKILLS AND INTERESTS
I enjoy participating in the wider life of the school and helping students to achieve their potential. At my previous school I started a Debating Society where we would meet weekly to discuss political and social issues. We also travelled the country competing against other schools, in particular the Oxford and Cambridge Schools Debating Competition. In my spare time I enjoy going to exhibitions, exploring London, travelling and reading. I also volunteer at a charity, offering History lessons for adults who have left school with few qualifications.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a qualified teacher with over ten years of teaching experience at both GCSE and A Level. As a result, I have a huge wealth of exam resources and exemplar materials to support students of all abilities. I also have experience marking as a GCSE examiner for Edexcel which has helped develop my exam teaching. Consequently, I am familiar with exam criteria at both GCSE and A Level and am very confident in helping students to achieve the best grade possible. I have proven experience of students achieving above their target grade in exam subjects and can therefore apply these skills to tutoring. I am a hardworking, dedicated, creative, enthusiastic and an approachable team player. I have high expectations of myself, students and staff and have been highlighted as an outstanding teacher by Ofsted.
I firmly believe that education is the key to all success; it is the lifeblood of our society. In order to inspire students and colleagues to meet future challenges and developments, I believe that it is essential to lead by example, to demonstrate outstanding commitment, courage, determination and perseverance. As it is vital that our students leave school with enquiring minds that revel in the possibility of creativity, challenge, problem-solving, independent enquiry and reflection. As a teacher and tutor, I endeavour to ensure that students of all abilities are supported with the outstanding academic skills and knowledge that they need for lifelong, resilient learning in our ever-changing global community. As a tutor, I would ensure that my students always feel supported and well prepared for their exams.
As an experienced teacher, I have been a confident, strong and motivating role-model for students at each Key Stage. I have established and fostered positive relationships with students and their families, regularly communicating with parents and mentoring students towards greater academic achievements. I feel privileged to have been able to personalise and implement pastoral and academic interventions that have guided and supported children and their parents during the crucial lead up to their GCSE and A-level examinations. As a tutor, I would continue to create positive relationships with my students and ensure parents are kept up to date with the progress of their child.
I always ensure my students and I reflect on progress together. We look at exam technique and revision skills, and we work on past papers if exams are approaching. I equip students with all the tools they need to realise their academic potential and to achieve to the best of their abilities, and I aim to do this within a supportive, secure and enjoyable environment.
