SKILLS & INTERESTS
I speak Mandarin, French and am currently learning Greek. When I need to relax or declutter my brain, I spend time in the garden looking after the plants, weeding or pruning. On winter days, my favourite thing to do is snuggle up with a book, a coffee and some cookies in front of the fire. In Summer, I love swimming, snorkelling and playing tennis. When in London, I enjoy sculling on the river.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Before becoming a teacher, I worked in cafés, a bookshop and a restaurant.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am an experienced teacher who is passionate about the learning process and always looking for new ways to present material that is accessible and fun for every type of learner – kinaesthetic, visual, auditory or any combination of these. When I was at Primary School, I found Mathematics challenging and really struggled to find success in the subject. Now that I am a teacher, I realise that my lack of success was not due to inability, but rather not having the right methods for me as an individual to learn.
As a visual learner, I use colours, drawings and different font sizes to make it easier to remember key information. In addition, verbalising the facts helps me fix them in my long-term memory. My goal as a tutor is to find the right process for my students to be successful on their learning journey. With the right balance of hard work, fun and interesting material everyone can find success.
Since moving to England, I have had experience preparing students for both the SATS examination in the state sector and the common entrance papers for independent schools. As a result, I am familiar with the requirements for examination readiness.
