PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have a patient and understanding approach to teaching as students can reach a higher potential in a comfortable environment. I enjoy giving students the freedom to express themselves and their opinions while keeping particular attention to detail.
I have a degree in English, and I have recently completed the PGCE in secondary English. I have taught EAL for many years in Indonesia and Malta, where I taught all levels and ages with exam preparation for TOEFL and IELTS to both group classes and individual tutoring. In addition, I have experience in teaching The British curriculum and preparation for the 12+ entrance exam. I am currently doing an MA in English Education at University College London and tutoring online for EAL and English as a core subject. Also, I have IGCSE English as a second language experience.
My approach to teaching depends on the learner and the objective. However, I generally have an inquiry-based approach to teaching whereby the learner can investigate through questioning and being active in discussions. I find that this approach builds confidence and personal understanding of a teaching point. Also, I enjoy project-based teaching as learners engage in explorative learning by addressing real-life problems. Thus, acquiring a deeper understanding of potential challenges.is is an important section.
