PERSONAL STATEMENT
I believe that finding a love for learning is the single most important factor in facilitating academic progress. I believe that turning education into a passion is a process, indeed one that is never too late to begin. I aim to help young people gradually shift their mindset towards academia. For me, education began as a chore, but I am now at the stage where education is my greatest passion and escape. Through various techniques, I know that I can help others find the same feeling I have towards it. With a love for education comes good results.
Tutoring is so effective because I can tailor lessons to the pupil and their specific needs and requirements. We can focus on areas that are glossed over in school and take as long as it needs to for it to be fully understood. I aim to create an environment where the student is comfortable expressing a lack of understanding for a topic and make mistakes. In my teaching, I want to make the pupil increase their confidence and sense of self-accomplishment. I want the pupil to achieve a sense of lasting self-belief that they can take into all areas of their life, into their school classes and ultimately into their examinations. My main aim is to show young people that, no matter how far away ‘academic success’ seems, it is absolutely possible to improve. I aim to instil this growth mindset and show them that they are more than capable of achieving their ambitions.
Having not left school too long ago, and having siblings still in the school system, it is very familiar to me and fresh in my mind. I have a strong knowledge of exam technique and how best to approach a number of subjects to help the student improve their grades.
